Support
One address for everything — bugs, purchases, privacy requests, accessibility problems, or a board that looks wrong: support@raylight-voyagertracking.com.
Who answers. Octant is made by one person. Every message is read and answered by a human, but not by a support team, and not at three in the morning. Most messages get a reply within a few days. If a week goes by with nothing, send it again — the mail was probably lost, not ignored.
What to put in the message §
The app keeps no logs and sends us nothing, so the only information we will ever have about a problem is what you write down. The more of this you can include, the better the odds of a real answer instead of three rounds of questions:
- Which puzzle — Meander, Crease, Basin, Jam, Scree, Wedge or Overprint.
- The day number, shown on the Today screen and in the result text each puzzle produces.
- What you did, what happened, and what you expected instead. In that order, in plain words. “I tapped Run and the walker went off the edge” is worth more than “it's broken”.
- Your device and OS version — for example “iPhone 13, iOS 19.2” or “Pixel 7, Android 16”.
- The app version, from the App Store or Play Store listing.
- A screenshot, if there is anything to see. Your result text pasted in is useful too — it carries the day, the score and the hint count.
Purchases, refunds and subscriptions §
Apple and Google are the sellers for anything bought inside the app, which means some of this is genuinely out of our hands.
- Refunds for App Store purchases go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Refunds for Google Play purchases go through Google Play's refund process. We cannot issue those refunds ourselves, though we can tell Apple or Google that we support one.
- Cancelling Octant Plus happens in your store account, not in the app. App Store: Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Google Play: Play Store → your profile → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- A pack you paid for that never arrived. Write to us with the store receipt or order ID and we will get it delivered or help you get the money back.
- Hints that vanished — a reinstall, a new phone, cleared data, or the operating system reclaiming storage. Your balance lives on your device and we never had a copy, so we cannot look it up from our side. Send the store receipt or order ID and, where we can confirm the purchase, we will re-credit unused hints as a goodwill gesture. The stores cannot restore consumable purchases, so this is the only route.
- Hints you have already used are not refundable, except where the law where you live says otherwise. Terms §6 has the detail, including the 14-day withdrawal right for consumers in the EEA and the UK.
Privacy requests §
Same address. Say what you want — access, correction, deletion, a copy, or just an answer to “what do you have on me”.
The honest answer is usually “nothing”. There are no accounts and the app sends us nothing, so unless you have bought something there is no record of you anywhere in our systems. If you have bought something, the record is keyed to an anonymous ID, and the way to let us find it is to include your store receipt or order ID.
If you want to delete what is on your own device, you do not need us at all — the steps for every platform are in Privacy §15.
Accessibility §
If something in the app is hard or impossible to use — contrast, tap targets, a screen reader losing its place, motion that makes you unwell — tell us what did not work and on what device. This is worth reporting even if it feels small. It is the category of bug most likely to get fixed quickly, because the fixes are usually small.
Security §
If you think you have found a security or privacy problem, write to the same address with “security” in the subject line and enough detail to reproduce it. We will confirm we got it, fix what needs fixing, and tell you what happened. Please give us a reasonable chance to fix it before publishing it.
What we cannot do §
- Look up your results, streak or hint balance. They are on your device, and we have no copy of any of it.
- Refund a store purchase directly — that is Apple's or Google's to issue.
- Restore a consumable hint pack through the stores. See the goodwill re-credit above.
- Transfer anything between devices, or between the app and the web version. There is no account to carry it.
- Move a streak. It is computed from the days recorded on that device.
